Author Tools
Quick, focused resources for writers who care about craft.
We built this lexicon tool while editing our own manuscripts. It’s a lightweight utility that returns word frequency, filters out common “stop words,” and flags suspicious or overused terms for review. The parser runs fast—even on full-length books—and gives you a quick snapshot of your writing habits.
This isn’t a replacement for full editorial software. It’s designed to be used alongside your word processor: copy your draft into the tool, get a frequency list, and then use your word processor’s search function to locate and review flagged words one at a time. It is more useful with larger works, feel free to dump 100,000 word manuscript into it.
It’s fast, free, and private. No account required. No tracking. Your text will not be archived or retained in any form. Just a tool to help you tighten your language and notice what you might be missing.
This tool set, will return the incidence of each word in a block of text. It will skip words in the "Stop Words" list and return both a count and a percentage use value for words in the "Suspicious" list. The system takes about 5 seconds to parse through 80,000 words.
